Esperance is known for its extreme and sudden temperature changes, but have you ever known 41 degrees one day and 18 degrees the next? Amazing. We had planned a bushwalk around Lucky Bay, about 60 kms to the East of Esperance. On the way we stopped to take photos as there were many more wildflowers than we expected so late in the Spring. In particular, there were vast expanses of orange Australian Christmas Trees, a parasitic plant that derives water and nutrients from the roots of other plants (so-called because they are in flower at Christmas time:
